A New Year

2015, a new year. So now what? I found the perfect photo above from our NYE festivities photobooth and thought it was pretty hilarious (pretty sure I’m yawning). It basically describes how I feel every year. Last year was awesome, I’m sure I could have done more, read more books (like the ones on my fancy list), gone out more, traveled more, and saved more. But the truth is I didn’t.

I did moved out, kicked ass at work, moved in with my bff, traveled to New York, fell more in love with yoga, turned 25, saw the Queen Bey in concert, survived a hurricane in Hawaii, Kyle moved to LA and in with me, did some crafts, decorated the perfect Christmas tree and ended the year with my best friends.

2014 ended exactly the way it was supposed to. And I loved every bit of it.

I usually make a new year’s resolution, last years was “Do more yoga, at least once a week.” And I am proud to say I pretty much stuck to that. I incorporated yoga into my life a lot, maybe not every single week but at least a couple times a month. I even got Kyle to do a yoga workshop on the Santa Monica Pier called “Wanderlust in the City” with me AND he said it was so fun.

Kyle and I talked about goals and what we want to accomplish in 2015. It got me thinking. This year I want to do something different. They aren’t goals, they aren’t resolutions. Not sure what they are.  It only takes 28 days to create a habit so I’ve decided this year, one goal a month to focus on. This way I can create 12 great habits. So here’s my list…

 Let’s call this #SparklesTakes2015.

January: Create a spending journal [write down all things bought that are unnecessary to remind yourself you don’t need it]

February: Start a garden [grow something meaningful, healthy and homemade]
March: Clean, organize, attack the bathroom [oh god I hope this doesn’t wait all the way until march]
April: Get out and run [spring has sprung so go outside]
May: Buy lots of flowers [keep life beautiful, remind yourself who you are]
June: Clean out the closet, literally [donate all you can, you don’t need that much]
July: Say yes to everything [don’t be lazy, go out, have fun, it’s your last month of being 25 for God’s sake]
August: Enjoy being 26 [stop focusing on what you don’t have, be happy, be present]
September: Summer is almost over, explore LA [get your ass to the beach, remind yourself why you live here]
October: Cook yummy food [eat something you never thought]
November: Save, save, save [don’t buy yourself anything, santa is almost here]
December: Read, inspire, breathe [read a career book for five, remind yourself of the “why”]

 So excited for this year and I can’t wait to see what it brings.
